UPDATE: Per the Nevada Hospital Association, major COVID-19 data reporting changes are expected mid-to-late May. This includes a significant reduction in the number of data elements collected, and a change from daily to once per week data collection.
Hospitals must report capacity and utilization data in order to assist the White House Coronavirus Task Force in tracking the movement of the virus, and to facilitate planning, monitoring, and resource allocation during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.
For the purposes of this request, hospitals to report include critical access hospital, children’s hospital, general hospital (including acute, trauma, and teaching hospital), long term acute care hospital, military hospital, oncology hospital, orthopedic hospital, pediatric long term acute care hospital, psychiatric hospital, rehabilitation hospital, surgical hospital, Veterans Administration hospital, women’s hospital, and women’s and children’s hospital.
Daily; however, hospitals that do not have the staffing or ability to report on weekends may update their information by the end of day Monday or by the end of the business day following a holiday.
See: COVID-19 Guidance for Hospital Reporting and FAQs updated May 27, 2021
Hospitals should report daily capacity and utilization data to their State if they have received a written release from the State and the State has received written certification from their ASPR Regional Administrator to take over Federal reporting responsibilities.
Note: The Nevada Hospital Association (NHA) is collecting this data on behalf of all NRHP member hospitals. See certification letter below from HHS approving NHA to collect hospital data.
The National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) assumed responsibility for collection of COVID-19 hospital data on Thursday, December 15, 2022. NHA uploads hospital data to NHSN. There is no change required of hospitals. Hospitals are NOT required to enter COVID data into NHSN for this purpose if they are reporting to NHA.
Hospitals should no longer report capacity and utilization data via the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) website. Note that this directive does NOT apply to LTC reporting, which should still be done via NHSN.
