Facilities must report annual HCP influenza vaccination summary data through the NHSN HPS Component. CDC is no longer collecting weekly influenza vaccination data for residents and healthcare personnel through the Long-term Care (LTC) Facility Component, and these tabs were removed in the NHSN application. Therefore, reporting weekly influenza vaccination data through the LTC Facility Component does not fulfill this reporting requirement.
All CMS-certified skilled nursing facilities.
On or about May 15th of each year.
Reporting is done through the NHSN Healthcare Personnel Safety (HPS) Component.
CMS-certified skilled nursing facilities can be fined for failure to comply this this requirement.
The Influenza Vaccination Coverage among HCP measure was finalized in the FY 2023 SNF PPS Final Rule which was published in the Federal Register on August 3, 2022.
