Reporting Information

NRHP member facilities report on this quality indicator developed by the NRHP Risk Manager Work Group, which tracks the number of prompt (within one hour) person-to-person communications of critical lab values per the hospital's policy.

Responsible Party

Who Must Report?

All NRHP member facilities are encouraged to report. Reporting is mandatory for LiCON-covered facilities.

Deadlines

When Do I Report?

After the end of the quarter and prior to the NRHP Risk Manager Work Group meetings in January, April, July, and October.

Method

How Do I Report?

Members may use the "Visit Portal Site" button at the top of this screen to submit their quarterly quality indicator numbers to NRHP.

NUMERATOR:

  • number of successful prompt (within 1 hour) person-to-person communications of critical lab values (lab to healthcare professional who ordered test, or to appropriate alternative, e.g., healthcare professional with current responsibility for the patient’s care such as emergency room provider, admitting physician or hospitalist per hospital policy)

DENOMINATOR:

  • number of lab results with critical values
